As part of a broader organisational restructure, data networking research at Swinburne University of Technology has moved from the Centre for Advanced Internet Architecture (CAIA) to the Internet For Things (I4T) Research Lab.

Although CAIA no longer exists, this website reflects CAIA's activities and outputs between March 2002 and February 2017, and is being maintained as a service to the broader data networking research community.

W3bworld: in-browser 3D visualisation of network state

Overview
W3bmon -- an example usage of W3bworld.

W3bworld is an evolution of the L3DGE project. It aims to provide useful visual monitoring and interaction inside a 3D environment in HTML5, typically in a networking related situation.

Support for HTML5 in browsers is growing, with some mobile devices supporting WebGL functionality. W3bworld leverages this to provide support for an increasing range of platforms.

W3bmon is provided as an example application of W3bworld

Resources included

The W3bworld package includes a number of tools.

  • W3bworld server: the Node.js application to operate a server
  • W3bworld client: everything needed to let clients connect
  • W3bmon: an example application of W3bworld
  • example-module.js: an example drop-in replacement for the l3dgecomm-server portion of W3bworld, allowing you to write your own non-l3dgecomm input/output module

There is an operational demonstration of W3bmon, an example application of W3bworld.
