As part of a broader organisational restructure, data networking research at Swinburne University of Technology has moved from the Centre for Advanced Internet Architecture (CAIA) to the Internet For Things (I4T) Research Lab.

Although CAIA no longer exists, this website reflects CAIA's activities and outputs between March 2002 and February 2017, and is being maintained as a service to the broader data networking research community.

L3DGEWorld 2.2 - Visual Characteristic Samples

Provided on this page are screenshots and videos showing the visual characteristics provided by the L3DGEWorld 2.2 engine. The Greymatter 0.1 input daemon (included with L3DGEWorld 2.2) makes use of several of the characteristics, and all other characteristics can be demonstrated with Fakematter (also included with L3DGEWorld 2.2). The input and output layers have been documented in the technical report "L3DGEWorld 2.2 Input & Output Specifications" by Lucas Parry, enabling anybody to write their own L3DGEWorld compatible input and output daemons making use of any of the available characteristics.

Videos

This video shows examples of all of L3DGEWorld's visual characteristics, and demonstrates how that may be combined resulting in interesting effects.
A higher quality version of the characteristics video encoded in MPEG4 is available here.

This video shows L3DGEWorld 2.1 being used to monitor a greynet, with Greymatter being used as the input daemon and monitorhosts.sh as the output daemon, while a network user performs a port scan over the network.
A higher quality version of the port scan video encoded in MPEG4 is available here.
