BART (Broadband Access Research Testbed)
|
How do I use the BART Testbed
Utilisation of BART
In order to use the BART testbed you should first contact Jason But to enquire about the
availability of resources. BART resources (particular modems, switch ports, etc.)
are allocated to individual users of the testbed. Access to BART by researchers
from outside CAIA is possible when part of an established research project
involving one or more CAIA research staff.
Other BART Users
Upon enquiry you will be allocated the required resources within
the testbed for your own use. Your contact details will be supplied
to other current BART users while you will receive the contact details
of other BART users. If your research proposal entails use of the
DOCSIS infrastructure, it will be necessary to timetable your experiments
with other users of the DOCSIS infrastructure so that your results are
not tainted with shared traffic. If your research proposal entails high
bandwidth utilisation on the ADSL infrastructure, it may be prudent to
contact other BART users to ensure that your traffic is the only traffic
being run at the time.
Testbed Configuration
After resource allocation, you will be provided with instructions on
how to configure the testbed to your particular requirements. You will be
expected to perform your own configuration and to run your own experiments,
however help will be provided if you are unsure about system configuration.
