Thesis Title:
The value of IP Service Quality
Thesis description:
The purpose of this research project is to answer the question “how ISPs can
provide different service levels to the consumer and charge them for the service value perceived”.
This research project will provide substantial new insights into the following areas:
- Key components required for an effective Internet Pricing scheme
- The ability to support emerging Internet applications by the current Internet access technologies
- The deterministic and statistical relationships between IP traffic patterns and application-level types and service quality
- Automation approach for Internet traffic classification and control
- Mathematical modelling of traffic emitted by 'valuable' applications and subsequent development of statistically equivalent simulation models for the traffic generated by a range of Internet applications, and
- Identification and classification of meaningful metrics for perceived 'value' of Internet application behaviours.
