As part of a broader organisational restructure, data networking research at Swinburne University of Technology has moved from the Centre for Advanced Internet Architecture (CAIA) to the Internet For Things (I4T) Research Lab.

Although CAIA no longer exists, this website reflects CAIA's activities and outputs between March 2002 and February 2017, and is being maintained as a service to the broader data networking research community.

Getting to CAIA

The CAIA lab is room 605 on the 6th floor of the EN building of Swinburne's Hawthorn campus, near the corner of Burwood Rd and Glenferrie Rd.

Getting to campus

There are many transport options. See also Swinburne's transport page for links to maps and public transport timetables.

Train

The campus surrounds Glenferrie station on the Lilydale/Belgrave line. You will need a zone-1 ticket. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right and then follow the red line on the map below.

Tram

Tram route 16 goes along Glenferrie Rd, and has a stop at Burwood Rd. (When you're leaving Swinburne by tram, don't be fooled by the "Melbourne University" trams. They take a circuitous southbound route, even though Melbourne Uni is north of Swinburne.)

Car

Limited parking is available as shown on the map below. Map of Hawthorn campus

Getting to the lab

Once inside the EN building, take the escalator to level 6. Then do a U-turn to your right and walk towards the mail boxes. Do a dog-leg to the left. The CAIA lab's room number is 605. There is a telephone outside the door, with a phone list. Call the number of the person you are visiting to be let in.
