As part of a broader organisational restructure, data networking research at Swinburne University of Technology has moved from the Centre for Advanced Internet Architecture (CAIA) to the Internet For Things (I4T) Research Lab.

Although CAIA no longer exists, this website reflects CAIA's activities and outputs between March 2002 and February 2017, and is being maintained as a service to the broader data networking research community.

Student Feedback

When teaching at Monash University, seeking student feedback was not a University managed procedure. Even then I independently solicited feedback from students as I believe that the best way to improve your own performance is to seek out and identify what worked - and continue to do these things - and what didn't - and seek to improve these

Since joining Swinburne, student feedback is formally collected and provided to us by the University. Below are copies of the feedback summaries provided for all Units I have taught thus far. Unit feedback is posted on this site as soon as it becomes available to me

Highlights

I have found both the lecturer and lab supervisor to be professional and well qualified in the subject (Overall, I am satisfied with the teaching in this subject - HET104/706, Semester 1 2007)

The lecturer for this subject was just too good. He made it easier for me to understand even difficult concepts (Overall, I am satisfied with the teaching in this subject - HET104/706, Semester 1 2007)

When I ask the questions in discussion board and email. I'd get response (I have received helpful feedback - HET306, Semester 2 2006)

Warren and Jason have both been excellent (I have received helpful feedback - HET306, Semester 2 2006)

Quite satisfied considering this is the first time this subject is run. (Overall, I am satisfied with the teaching in this subject - HET306, Semester 2 2006)

Much better than last year! (Overall, I am satisfied with the teaching in this subject - HET104, Semester 1 2006)

Jason But - good lecturer (Overall, I am satisfied with the teaching in this subject - HET104, Semester 1 2006)

Unit Feedback

HET306/HIT8163 - Unix for Telecommunications

  • Semester 2, 2007 - HET306 and HIT8163
Comments:Most of the negative feedback in this report relates to tardiness in getting progressive results to students throughout the semester. This is primarily caused by over-enrollment this semester, the Unit was designed to cater to ~40 students where we had more than 80. This led to many delays in getting assessment tasks completed. A review of the Unit assessment structure is underway to allow the Unit to cope with numbers up to 60 students
  • Semester 2, 2006

HET104 - LAN Principles

In 2007 S1, reports for HET104 and HET706 have been combined into a single document.
