Test Method
The following methods were used to generate and capture traffic:
- Setup equipment as detailed per Figure 1.

- Start up tcpdump with "tcpdump -n -i fxp0 -w
" or pkthisto on the Sniffer Box - Start up Xbox consoles with Halo
- Select "Multiplayer" then "System Link"
- Begin a multiplayer game and note the following details:
- Server console (no. of players on server)
- Client console (no. of players on client)
- Map
- Game Type
- Number of Players
- Upon completion of the game, discontinue the operation of tcpdump or pkthisto
- If tcpdump traffic capture was conducted, then the output file was later passed to pkthisto with the following configuration file. Otherwise if a real-time capture was conducted with pkthisto then a different configuration file was used. Pkthisto was set to capture 2000 packets and then create histograms of inter-arrival times and packet lengths based on the previous 2000 packets.
